NESTA and 24-Hour Fitness Workshops

We at the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association have had the pleasure of working in conjunction with 24-Hour Fitness for a while now. We are currently working on expanding our relationship into new demographics to provide live, hands-on training and certification workshops across the country. We have recently agreed to new locations such as Dallas, Houston, Colorado and Miami as well as locally in California. It's a great fit! 24 hour fitness trainers can earn a pay increase and CEU's for NASM and 24-Hour PT Certification.

Happy 4th of July

I don't know about you, but we here at NESTA are so excited for the upcoming 3-day weekend to celebrate the 4th of July. But, we all know what comes with holiday weekends; barbeques, lounging, tempting foods, etc. You don't have to let your health fall apart over a few days!
Take up some fun activities with your friends and family. Play some football, go for a bike ride, go for a hike. Do anything that is fun and keeps your body moving.
At the get-together potlucks, stick to healthy choices such as fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. We're only human, so if you want to splurge, please go ahead by all means, but remember, everything in moderation.
A last note, remember to stay hydrated, especially in warm weather conditions!

On a final note, we would like to congratulate our NESTA members Nicki Anderson and Jonathan Ross who are both 2008 IDEA Health and Fitness Award Finalists! We are very proud of them and hope that it serves as inspiration to fellow NESTA members as well as their clients.

Have a safe holiday!

NESTA Receives NCCA Accreditation

The National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association's Personal Fitness Trainer Certification Receives NCCA (National Commission for Certifying Agencies) Accreditation

Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif- As NESTA continues to grow, NCCA accreditation earns it a new place within the health and fitness industry.

Among NESTA's most recent accomplishments was their partnership with Polar to create the PFT 2.0 certification program. This personal fitness trainer certification program is the first of its kind, integrating Polar's heart rate monitor technology into the certification program. Trainers are now able to accurately track the progress of their clients in an objective, quantitative manner. NESTA and Polar recently unveiled the PFT 2.0 to over 300 presentation attendees at the annual IHRSA convention in San Diego, CA on March 6, 2008. This innovation was met with a tremendously enthusiastic response by both personal trainers and club owners.

"Earning the NCCA accreditation shows NESTA's commitment to achieving the highest standards by which personal trainer certification is measured," explains Dave Goldstein, VP Business Development at NESTA.

Mark Baines, Director of Education states, "This prestigious national accreditation will assist in helping NESTA trainers find great personal training jobs and ensure the validity and professional level of NESTA PFT certification."

By becoming accredited by the NCCA, NESTA has fully met the high quality standards for which personal trainer certification programs must qualify to earn national accreditation.

Since 1992, NESTA has been a leader in innovative solutions for fitness and wellness professionals and club owners by offering comprehensive educational programs that combine science with practical, real-world experience to ensure a well-rounded understanding of how to guide clients to reach their goals. In addition, NESTA offers business development systems and continuing education programs for individuals ranging from personal training to life coaching to yoga and Pilates.

Polar and NESTA Partnership

Polar and NESTA Partner to Offer a New First in Personal Training Certification: Newly developed programs integrate Polar cardio education and heart rate monitors to help club owners, trainers and members achieve greater results.

Lake Success, New York- Polar, the leader in heart rate monitor technology, announced a partnership with the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA), to create an enhanced personal training certification, integrating cardiovascular education and heart rate monitor technology into NESTA's Personal Fitness Trainer 2.0 certification program.

This progressive step forward for personal trainers and health clubs marks the first time cardio-specific training will be combined with heart rate monitor education and offered to personal trainers as a part of their certification process. The partnership comes at a key time when cardio-based workouts at the gym have never been more popular, and club owners are anxious to provide a more effective gym experience that helps members reach their goals. Personal trainers now have an advanced certification option to keep up with their client's expectations.

"Cardiovascular and resistance training programs are an extremely important part of the health club experience, and we know that trainers and club owners are anxious to see more success and greater results with their clientele," said Jesse Harper, Polar Director of Sales, Health Clubs. "By integrating Polar heart rate monitor education and technology with NESTA's comprehensive certification programs, trainers and club owners now have an effective way to plan, measure, and assess a club member's efforts. This intelligent approach to fitness and weight loss will improve member results, boost retention, and increase club revenues."

Beginning in March 2008, Polar cardiovascular education and heart rate monitor technology will be incorporated into NESTA's Personal Fitness Trainer (PFT) 2.0 certification program and personal study manual. Students enrolled in the PFT 2.0 enhanced certification option will receive and train with a Polar F11 heart rate monitor as part of their educational process. NESTA's certification workshops will also incorporate these training methodologies and heart rate monitoring education from Polar.

"By combining Polar's cardio expertise and technology with NESTA's certification programs, we're giving our trainers and educational edge that no other certification organization currently provides," said Scott Gaines, NESTA Vice President of Program Development. "Personal Trainers who are certified through this collaborative process will be able to achieve greater results with health club members, increase retention among personal training clients, and develop consistent revenues for any health facility or as an independent trainer."

Today, a cardio workout is a major part of an individual's exercise routine. In fact, nearly two-thirds of health club members use a treadmill, stationary bike, or elliptical machine when they visit the gym, according to IHRSA's Health Club Trend Report 2006.

"We understand that health club members can become frustrated when the investment of time and money doesn't generate the desired results, which can sometimes lead to cancelled memberships," said Harper. "By incorporating Polar heart rate monitor technology into the picture, it takes the ambiguity out of working out - it provides a window to a person's current fitness level, quantifies their efforts, and helps them know exactly what they need to do to reach their goals."

Polar heart rate monitor technology can be found throughout health clubs nationwide - from treadmills and ellipticals, to spin bikes and BodyAge machines - a fitness assessment tool which measures a person's biological age vs. chronological age, and charts a realistic, attainable course for fitness and weight loss goals.
